Hurricane Sandy and NACCRRA Data Services

Over the last few days, the large and dangerous Hurricane Sandy continues moving towards the Northeast coast. Sandy is expected to make landfall along the New Jersey coast late Monday or Monday evening. The sheer magnitude and size of the storm has a potential to impact the power to the data center for NACCRRA Data Services (NDS) hosted in Arlington, Virginia. We have a capacity to cover short power outages, however, our facilities cannot maintain services if a power outage exceeds four hours. Additionally, an extended power outage will also affect our website and phone services. Our ability to communicate with you may be affected.

As of this time, we cannot predict or estimate the impact this will have on our NDS services. We have taken numerous steps to ensure all NDS data is backed up and protected throughout this event. Should the storm impact services, please know our team will work around the clock to restore NDS as quickly as possible.
